Executive Director Nina Rannells
At its March 5 Board meeting, the WETA Board of Directors named Nina Rannells as its new Executive Director. Nina had served as WETA's Interim Executive Director since Jon Stanley resigned in February. While wishing the best for Mr. Stanley, WETA Board Chair Charlene Haught Johnson commented that "We are lucky to have the right person in-house who has the right skills and is known and respected in the transit industry. Nina can step in quickly and keep WETA's projects moving forward at this critical time." Nina has twenty years of public transportation experience including transportation finance, human resources, agency administration, legislation and policy development.
Nina joined WETA's predecessor agency, the San Francisco Bay Area Water Transit Authority (WTA), as its Grants Manager in January 2006 and was promoted to the position of Deputy Director of Finance and Administration the following year. In this role she was responsible for managing all aspects of agency work, with a specific focus on finance and strategic development.
Prior to joining the WTA, Nina served as the Grant and Capital Programs Manager for the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District for over 10 years and at the Metropolitan Transportation Commission as a liaison with transit operators.
She holds an MBA degree from Dominican University of California and a B.A. from San Francisco State University.
